Astronomy Photo Contest

Here's your chance to get one of your images published in the Oregon Museum of Science and Industry's (OMSI) 2009 Kendall Planetarium astronomy calendar.

OMSI is hosting a astronomy photo contest to celebrate the 400th anniversary of Galileo first pointing a telescope at the night skies. 12 lucky winners will get their photos included in the calendar. The grand prize winner gets some great prizes plus their photo on the front cover.

The contest runs from February 20 to March 31, 2008. All entries must be received by 5:00 p.m. PST on March 31. See the OMSI web site for details.

Microsoft Announces World Wide Telescope

As we predicted yesterday, Microsoft announced the private alpha release of the World Wide Telescope project. It is expected to be released in "Spring 2008". If a public beta release becomes available, we'll let you know.
